MOMMY PROJECT
TROY — Seton Health’s next Mommy Project program begins at 6:30 p.m. July 12 at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Conference Room B, 1300 Massachusetts Ave. Taught by Seton Health’s Certified Childbirth Educators, this free program helps pregnant teens prepare for parenting. The course provides education on safety issues, infant care and dealing with the stresses of being a teenaged mother. Participants also earn points that can be redeemed for bassinets, car seats, baby clothes, and safety items such as smoke detectors and outlet covers. Fathers-to-be are also welcome. READING PROGRAM
NEW LEBANON — The New Lebanon Library kicks off its annual Summer Reading Program with a performance by the Dazzle Dogs at 2 p.m. July 14 at Shatford Memorial Park, Route 22. The event is free and open to the public, and will be followed by an ice cream social. The theme of this year’s Summer Reading Program is "Make A Splash! Read!" (for children) and "Catch a Wave" (for teens). Some of the special activities planned include musical performances, movies, gaming, crafts, author readings, and wildlife presentations. Sign-ups at the library begin immediately and the program runs through Aug. 18. Children who participate will receive a record book to keep track of all the books they read during the summer. They will receive a prize for every 10 picture books, three chapter books, or one teen book completed. Each time they visit the library, they will be able to fill out an entry form for bi-weekly prize drawings. Adults and teens also may participate. For each book they read over the summer, they may fill out an entry for bi-weekly prize drawings. The drawings will run from July 23 through Aug. 18. There will be three drawings each session, one for children, one for teens, and one for adults. The program is free. For information, call the library at 794-8844.

DELMAR — Eddy Alzheimer’s Services, a program of The Eddy not-for-profit network based in Troy, will offer the “Savvy Caregiver Program,” a six-week educational training course designed to help individuals caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease or other memory loss, 10 a.m.-noon Thursdays July 15-Aug. 19 at Bethlehem Senior Services, Room 107, 455 Delaware Ave. The program is open to the public.
